The Observatory of the Université Bretagne Loire carries out surveys once a year to monitor the career pursuits of doctoral students 1 year and 3 years after the defence.

1,057 doctors were interviewed and 945 responded to the survey, for a response rate of 89.4%.
The rate of graduates in employment in January 2017 was 66%.
The public sector is the main employer (64.5% of jobs). Two thirds of the jobs are for a fixed term. 26% of jobs are located in Brittany, 18% in Pays de la Loire and 29% abroad.

For doctors working full-time in France, the median monthly net salary (excluding bonus and 13th month) is €2,100.
