SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES

6 and 7 october 2018 in Angers

The Angers Science Village was held on 6 and 7 October at the University of Sciences. Despite uncertain weather, nearly 1500 people gathered around science for a weekend.

The
"Expose your Thesis" stand, run by 9 doctoral students from SFR QuaSaV, was a great success amongst all the audience. This rather special stand was divided into three workshops representing the three axes of SFR QuaSaV.

At the "Plant Quality" workshop, the public was able to taste apples, pears and carrots while trying to attach plants to their seeds.

At the "Plant diseases" workshop, everyone was able to investigate in order to identify the fungi responsible for plant diseases such as carrot and apple.

At the "Genetic Improvement" workshop, visitors were able to put themselves in the shoes of a breeder and create new varieties of apple and rose trees.

These three workshops were structured around a game involving the resolution of puzzles proposed to each of the stands visited. This game allowed the public to reconstitute the name of the association of doctoral candidates and doctors of the SFR QuaSaV being created: Greenyd (Green Young Doctors)! At the end of this game, the children were able to leave with candy, pens or comic strips on the plant professions.

We hope we have been able to create new vocations!
